I am a proud Yamatji man of the Badimia people. Yamatji-Badimia country is in the beautiful Gascoyne region of Western Australia where some of my happiest memories are of times spent at Warrdagga Rock. My parents relocated to South Australia when I was 13 bringing all 10 kids here to start a new life, and it’s where I still live today.
I started painting in my early twenties and together with my mum and sister designed and produced clothing and lingerie, sparking a desire to create artwork of my own.
Australian Aboriginal people are the oldest surviving culture in the world. Since European invasion, many of our traditions and rituals have been lost as well as countless languages due to forced relocation and assimilation. Keeping this art form alive is incredibly important – or it will be lost forever.
